Contact lenses – a fantastic alternative to glasses!
Major advances in contact lens design mean that almost everyone can wear contact lenses successfully. People of all ages can be fitted with contact lenses – although special care is needed for the very young and the elderly.
Initially, all contact lenses should be fitted by a qualified optometrist and regular check ups are necessary for all wearers.
Contact lenses can be worn to correct:
- Short sight
- Long sight
- For therapeutic use
Coloured, cosmetic, costume & fashion contact lenses
Contact lenses can be used for a variety of cosmetic purposes.
Coloured contact lenses change the colour of the iris to create a subtle – yet striking look.
Festive, theme-based, cosmetic contact lenses can be a fantastic addition to a costume and at parties.
Always be aware of cheap imitation costume contact lenses which can lead to irreversible damage to your vision and the eye.
At Alfred Jay Opticians, we deal exclusively in clinically appropriate and safe, prescription and non-prescription cosmetic contact lenses.
Contact lens fittings
Contact lens fitting requires specialist care and attention, irrespective of whether the contact lenses are worn to correct vision or for cosmetic purposes.
A poor fitting contact lens made of material that is not compatible with your eyes, can cause sight threatening difficulties which may affect your vision permanently.
Poor guidance and lack of tuition on how to put contact lenses in and take them out correctly, as well as instructions on cleaning and hygiene can cause significant problems.
Red eye, infections scratched cornea, not allowing the eye to breathe, can all be avoided by using quality contact lenses, comprehensive assessments and regular contact lens aftercare.
At Alfred Jay Opticians, we provide quality prescription contact lenses throughout our coloured and cosmetic range.
As optometrists, we have a duty of care to ensure that your eyes are healthy whilst wearing contact lenses. We therefore do not sell over the counter lenses without prescription.
